Question for the Ranger: Can the ERK-Z4 brackets be used to bolt down any cabinet?
The short answer is no. The long answer is not so simple as it really depends on the building codes in your municipality. In general there are three issues related to bolting down a computer cabinet:
· Structure of the sub-floor and/or raised floor
· Anchor bolts
· Anchor brackets
If you own your building and don’t know what the local codes are, you need to call the city building code department. If you rent your office space, check with the building facilities management people first. If they don’t know, then go to the city building code department. The city can tell you what kind of floor you need to have, the size and length of the anchor bolts you need, and how far they need to be drilled into the floor. Once you have this information, you then need to get the appropriate anchor brackets for the cabinet you are bolting down.
The process then follows this general flow:
· getting the appropriate components
· designating where you want the cabinet to be placed
· marking where the anchor bolts need to be placed
· drilling the appropriate size and depth holes
· inserting and securing the anchor bolts
· placing the cabinet over the exposed bolts
· putting the appropriate anchor brackets (if any) over the exposed bolts
· using the appropriate nut to tighten down the anchor brackets
All these steps need to be in conformance with the local building codes. If a raised floor is involved, then the anchor bolts need to be long enough to reach up through the raised floor, and there need to be additional supports for the raised floor, or strategically placed fittings on the anchor bolt to help support the raised floor. Then the cabinet is bolted down as described above.

I apologize for the late reply. I just noticed your post. Perhaps I was not as clear as I thought. The more specific answer to your question is no. The ERK brackets are made specifically for bolting down ERK cabinets, as the holes in the bracekts line up with the appropriate holes in the base of the ERK. This is not to say that you might “luck out” and have a similar hole pattern in another, non-ERK cabinet, but it is highly unlikely. I would not even bother trying to make it work. The best solution is to use the bolt down brackets, if any, that are designed specifically for the cabinet you want to secure.
